Translation: "That art is too artsy."

You were wanting maybe stick figures in crayon?

Hello darkness my old friend, I've come to talk with you again.
It's probably what any art student who dared to draw too "illustrative", too "you can actually recognise what it's supposed to be and discern their level of skill and knowledge" had to listen to. Apparently anything that's not created in an expressionistic or at the very least impressionistic style is too boring to be considered good in nowadays art-school standards. Been there, too.

Huh, so they are picture-y?

Hmm, either the guy is saying that they are too static/not feeling like they are real, or his head is up his own ass.

Now that would be a bold artistic statement, if physiologically improbable. :P

A had a photography teacher reject my photo from a student art show (I was a student at the time!) because and I quote "The student art show is not to show what students have to offer, but to show what the school has to offer."

Seriously.

So the teacher in this particular comic sounds a little familiar :D
